TRUSTING GOD IN TRIALS

So the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” And he showed him the place. So he cut off a stick, and threw it in there; and he made the iron float.

                                                 - 2 Kings 6:6

In the book of 2 Kings, we see an incredible story of faith and trust in God. The prophet Elisha and his disciples were in need of a new place to dwell. They found a spot by the Jordan River and began to build a new dwelling place. During the process, one of the disciples accidentally dropped his axe head into the river.

The axe head was made of iron and sank to the bottom of the river, leaving the disciple feeling hopeless and defeated. But Elisha had faith in God's power and asked the man where the axe head fell. When he showed him the spot, Elisha cut off a stick and threw it into the river. To the amazement of all, the iron axe head floated to the surface.

This story shows the power of faith and trust in God. It shows us that even the laws of physics can be overcome when we believe in God's ability to work miracles in our lives. God can make the impossible possible, and he does so out of love for us.

We live in a world where it is common to see most people give up too soon when things get difficult; they give up on relationships, businesses, academics, jobs, their visions and dreams just before things get better. But as believers, we are called to trust in God's promises and have faith that he will see us through even the toughest of situations. We should never underestimate the power of God to turn a seemingly hopeless situation into a miracle.

It's important to remember that God never promised us a life free from challenges or difficulties. In fact, he tells us that we will face trials in this life. But he also promises us that he will be with us every step of the way, and that he will never leave us or forsake us.

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.
                                           -  John 16:33

When we face difficult times, we should turn to God in prayer and trust that he will provide a way through. We can speak life into our situations and command our lives to come out of darkness and into the light of God's love and grace.

The following are passages of God’s reassurance:

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

                                                              - Philippians 4:6-7

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

                                                                - Psalm 34:17-18

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

                                                                 - Isaiah 41:10

Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened

                                                              - Matthew 7:7-8

We can declare that we will not be defeated by our circumstances, but rather we will rise above them and claim victory in Christ. We can have faith that God will work miracles in our lives and that He will use even the most difficult situations for our good and his glory.

As we go through life, let us remember the story of Elisha and the floating axe head. Let us trust in God's power to work miracles in our lives, and let us never give up hope. For our God is an awesome God who loves us and will always be there for us, no matter what.
