HOW TO GIVE TO PROVOKE BLESSINGS

Giving

Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross. Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honour and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.                                         - Philippians 2:8-10

We all love to stand-out in whatever we do. But this comes with a price. A price that not too many people are willing to pay. Nevertheless, there's no shortcut to excellence in life. You must be ready to give it what it takes.

I understand that sometimes it can be really uncomfortable  to make sacrifices because of the demand on one's resources. But, of course, sacrifices should cost one something. And whenever you make up your mind to make a sacrifice, it’s important to understand that the value of a sacrifice is in its quality.

The quality of a sacrifice is determined by the willingness of the heart and how much it is devoid of self-aggrandizement. This is the kind of a sacrifice that attracts a reward from God.

Read what the Bible has to say about this below:

Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven. When you give to someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites do—blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get. But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

 The relative value (quantity) of the gift is also something of importance. In which case, we talk about the sum of the money, quality of time, or suitability of the materials provided for a sacrificial gift. All these should be put into consideration to determine what to give.

The bottom line is that you shouldn’t be forced into giving what you are not ready for or can’t afford to give. Giving is done by faith, it is not a bondage. So whenever you are giving in appreciation of what God has done for you, make sure the gift matches the reason for which you are offering the sacrifice and according to what you can afford.

The following passage of scripture is an eye opener to how God judges our giving.

While Jesus was in the Temple, he watched the rich people dropping their gifts in the collection box. Then a poor widow came by and dropped in two small coins. I tell you the truth,” Jesus said, “this poor widow has given more than all the rest of them. For they have given a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has.”

                                                        - Luke 21:1- 4

Isn't it interesting to know that God watches your sacrifices? And that He knows when you go out of way to make things happen for others and in the kingdom. He will surely reward you. So give you best. Whenever you give your best to help somebody, you become more of the person God has called you to be; more of the best of you!

This was what Jesus did as we read in the first bible passage above. God elevated Him for the fact that He gave his all. You can also do the same. Therefore whatever you make up your mind to do today, do it with all your strength as the scripture says;

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

                                          - Colossians 3:23

Today be encouraged to make a sacrifice for somebody to be happy. But many people have been ungrateful for the good I did in the past you may say; Dont be discouraged. Keep doing good and  God will open your book of remembrance and cause your elevation and honour to come quickly in Jesus name. Remember that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

The world is about to see more of the best of you today as the brightness of your shining brings praise and honour to God.
