IT'S TIME TO LAUNCH OUT

Leap of faith

And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water." So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” And immediately, Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.

   - Matthew 14:28 - 32

The above passage is an intriguing tale of Peter temporarily walking on water with Jesus. I said temporarily because he couldn't keep the experience going long enough to get back to the boat where the other disciples were watching the whole episode from. They stood there in astonishment as Peter walked on water until he began to sink.

When Peter saw Jesus going across the sea toward the boat. He asked a question that revealed his true feelings. According to the Bible, they were at first, terrified because they thought it was a ghost coming for them. Then Jesus informed them that it was He. To confirm if it was actually Jesus or a spirit from the bottom of the river, Peter raised his voice and exclaimed, "Command me to come on the water if it is indeed you." I believe this is not a safe approach to authenticate such a thing if Peter was truly unsure about who was coming to them on the water.

I think Peter actually knew that it was Jesus, but because he had always desired to walk in the supernatural like Jesus, he saw this as an opportunity to do so. So he requested Jesus to tell him to come on the water. Jesus' invitation to Peter sounded as if he said, "Why not?,  You've always had the ability to walk on water, but you don't know how to use it, so just come."

Most people would argue that Jesus made Peter walk on water that day, but when he began to sink, we saw that Jesus was not the one suspending Peter on the water. It was Peter's faith. He has always had faith but has never put it to use. Jesus told him that he was sinking because he had doubts after seeing the sea's waves. This is an awesome revelation!

I believe the Spirit of God is urging me to inform you that it is time to awaken your dormant faith and walk on water. It's your miracle season. Walking on water may signify daring to perform that fantastic thing you've been putting off because you're afraid of failing. But now God is saying to you, "Why not?" You've always believed you could do it. Simply put your faith in action and quit doubting yourself. Take the initial step and watch as your doubts fade away and your faith kicks into high gear.

Consider the sense of accomplishment and pride that will come from accomplishing that fantastic thing you've always wanted to do. Consider what a benefit it will be to your generation if you can make it happen. Consider the wealth it can bring for you and how all of your other wants will become a thing of the past if you simply dare to give it a chance. What if I don't succeed? You may question, "But isn't it better to miss the aim than to survive to tell the tragic story of how you were too timid to attempt for your dreams?"

Get up now! Take the first step and never stop working at it because it. See you at the top, when men will gather to watch in awe, the miracle that your life has become just because you dared to act on your dreams.
