WATCH OUT; THE MIRACLE YOU ARE EXPECTING MAY NOT LOOK LIKE IT WHEN IT ARRIVES

God's Provision

Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. Behold, I have commanded a widow  there to feed you.

                                                  - 1Kings 17:9

Isn't it unusual that God would send His prophet to a widow for supplies? A poor widow, who all she had left was a meal for herself and her son, after which they would starve to death due to the famine  ravaging the nation and that was going to last for three years and six months.

If your mind is preoccupied with where and how God should perform your miracle, you will always miss out on his gift. Most individuals miss out on God's supplies because they have a fixed or rigid view about how God should perform various things in their lives. Your prejudices will keep you disputing with the Holy Spirit as He tries to give you spiritual guidance for your survival and destiny.

Do you recall when Sarah was attempting to figure out how God's promise of many sons to Abraham would be fulfilled? Her thoughts were concentrated on Hagar, her slave, and she chose that path rather than depending on God. She quickly realised the agony of looking in the wrong place for support when God hasn't placed it there. The bible captures her wrong move in this manner;

Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had not borne him a child, but she had an Egyptian slave woman whose name was Hagar. So Sarai said to Abram, “See now, the LORD has prevented me from bearing children. Please have relations with my slave woman; perhaps I will obtain children through her.” And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.                                          - Genesis 16 : 1- 2

One other practical example is when people pray for supernatural financial assistance but then quarrel with their friends, aunts and uncles because they are not assisting them. This is because their thoughts were preoccupied with those persons even before they arrived to the place of prayer.

But God says NO. He wishes to bring you assistance from an unexpected source, so He might take all of the credit.

The bible puts it this way:

What I do is done for my own sake--I will not let my name be dishonored or let anyone else share the glory that should be mine and mine alone."

- Isaiah 48 : 11

While God may still use your family and friends, He prefers that you heed to His instructions and recognize that He is the one who brings favour to a man.

I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn't always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn't always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don't always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.

- Ecclesiastes 9 : 11

The fact that you know or have access to people who can assist you does not guarantee that you will receive the necessary assistance. It is God who directs a man's movements and causes him to be in the right location at the right time to be found by their helpers.

The widow was supposed to be a poor lady, but she was able to feed the prophet because the Lord had assigned the Prophet's sustenance to her.

It is critical that you understand that your "Widow helper" may be your current business that appears frustrated or your neighbour that does not appear to have any connections that can help you. However, if that is where God has directed your provision to be, it will be sufficient to meet your needs.

I pray for you today that you may receive the grace to listen for the divine instructions that will introduce you to your "widow help" so that you do not experience the shame of telling too many wrong people about your troubles and receiving no aid from them. In Jesus' name, may you be patient enough to obtain all that the Lord has in store for you.

The bible says in Psalms 23 :1 - 3:

The LORD is my shepherd, I will not be in need. He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For the sake of His name...

Now make this confession loud to yourself:
Today, by divine leading, I come across my "widow helper," and I am able to recognize it. I will not wander, but will dwell where the Lord has commanded my provision to be, in Jesus' name. Amen.
