ENDURING TOUGH TIMES: FINDING HOPE AND STRENGTH THROUGH FAITH
For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
- 2 Corinthians 4:17
“Tough times don’t last but tough people do.”
The word of God acknowledges that believers may experience trials and afflictions in this life, but these difficulties are temporary and will ultimately lead to a greater reward at last. This perspective can help us to keep our focus on the bigger picture and maintain hope in the midst of challenges.
It's important to note that the phrase "light affliction" is not meant to minimize the difficulties that we may face, but rather to emphasize the greater glory that is to come. Paul, the writer himself, experienced many trials and hardships, including imprisonment and persecution, and yet he was able to maintain a hopeful perspective because of his faith in Christ.
As you look around the world today, it's evident that we are living in tumultuous times. No nation seems to be exempted from the pressure and pain of the challenges of our era, and even the most capable leaders worldwide are struggling to keep up with the increasing demands of their societies for innovative and effective solutions. The strongest economies are being shaken to their core, and wars and conflicts continue to ravage countries. Climate change and food crises are also major issues that are impacting third-world nations, and it seems like the list of challenges keeps growing longer by the day.
It can all seem quite overwhelming and may leave you feeling hopeless and powerless in the face of such adversity. However, it's important to remember that you're not alone in this struggle. Every nation is affected one way or the other, making it a global challenge as the world continues to become a more interconnected and interdependent global village. Therefore, it's essential to take a step back, regroup, and develop a sense of resilience to navigate the challenges and emerge stronger on the other side.
- Romans 8:28
The Bible teaches that "all things work together for our good," and this scripture can provide the strength and fortitude needed to maintain an unshakeable faith amidst adversity. As you pass through your challenges, keep your eyes fixed on the "Expected End" promised in the Word, and know that God is present with you in your toughest times. With this belief, you can hope for the best, even when circumstances seem to suggest otherwise.
- Galatians 6:9
To weather this storm, it's necessary to develop a sense of toughness and resilience. It's not going to be an easy journey, and it will take some toughness to weather this storm. You must believe that this time shall pass away, and a new season of ease will come for you. It's essential not to give in to despair and hopelessness, but to stand firm and face the challenges head-on. With perseverance and faith, the reward will be great.
It's also important to focus on what you can control in these challenging times. While there may be things that are beyond your control, there are still many things you can do to improve your situation. You can take steps to strengthen your relationships, stay informed about the issues affecting your community and the world, and take action to address them in whatever ways you can. You can also focus on your personal growth and development, whether that's learning a new skill or pursuing a hobby that brings you joy.
It's important to remember that you are not alone in this struggle. You have a community of people around you, whether that's your family, the brethren, or colleagues, who can provide support and encouragement. Together, you can navigate the challenges and emerge stronger on the other side.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." This passage reminds us to persevere in doing good and not to give up, because in due time, we will reap the benefits of our efforts if we continue to press on.
