The Power of Persistence
Have you ever felt like giving up on your dreams and desires because of the challenges and obstacles you've faced along the way? I understand that it can be difficult to keep pushing forward when it seems like the world is against you. But, there is a powerful lesson we can learn from a blind man in the Bible.
They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” He called out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
- Luke 18:37-39
In the passage above, the blind man heard that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by, and he called out to Him, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" Those who were leading the way rebuked him, telling him to be quiet. But, the man persisted, shouting even louder, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
This story serves as a lesson that we should never give up on calling out to God and speaking our desires and needs to Him. No matter what others may say or how circumstances may try to shut us down, we should persist in speaking the truth of our hearts. Our words have the power to shape our destiny, just as in the case of this blind man. And by continuing to call out to God, we open the door for Him to work in our lives.
It's essential to understand that when we pray and speak to God, we're not only talking to an audience of one. Our words have the power to move mountains and bring our deepest desires to life. So, don't let anyone or anything stop you from persistently speaking to God about the things that are important to you. Persistence is key when it comes to speaking our hearts to God. No matter how challenging life may seem, keep pushing forward and speaking your desires to Him. Trust that He hears you and is working in your life, and watch as He transforms your dreams into a beautiful reality.
Like the blind man in the story, you might be facing opposition or negative self-talk that's trying to hold you back from manifesting the will of God in your life. But just like him too,, you have the power to overcome the obstacles. The enemy may try to make you complain or curse yourself, but you have to remember that your words have the power to shape your reality. When you openly declare the will of God for your life, you're taking control of your destiny and shaping your future.
The Bible holds a profound message in Matthew 12:37, which states
"For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."
As followers of Christ, we are protected from any negative words or curses that others may try to speak over us. However, if we allow those negative thoughts and words to penetrate our minds and hearts and start to believe and confess them, the curse will remain with us. This is why it is essential for us to guard our thoughts and words and choose to speak words of life and positivity instead.
Proverbs 26:2. says:
This verse means that just as birds fly away and do not stay in one place, a curse that has no reason or cause will not have any lasting impact or effect. Do not give any curse a cause to stand against you."Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, so a curse without cause shall not alight."
