PUT THE PAST BEHIND, THERE'S SOMETHING BETTER AHEAD

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good

                                           - Romans 12:21

The Bible describes a kind of wisdom as one that comes from above. It is the wisdom of making peace whenever there’s an offense; letting go of the offence and making peace either with someone or making peace between people.

However, the wisdom that comes from above is first of all pure, then peace-loving, gentle, willing to yield, full of compassion and good deeds, and without a trace of partiality or hypocrisy. And a harvest of righteousness is grown from the seed of peace planted by peacemakers.

                                - James 3:17-18

This is the wisdom of God and it is the best way to handle an offense if we desire to have the harvest of righteousness (spiritual maturity). Verse 18 of the scripture above is rendered as follows:

And the seed whose fruit is righteousness (spiritual maturity) is sown in peace by those who make peace [by actively encouraging goodwill between individuals].

                              - James 3:18 (Amplified Bible)

Now, It is true that they hated you for no reason and treated you so unfairly. Everyone knows that you have all the right to hold onto the offense and wait for the opportunity to pay back those who did the bad. Is it too much to ask that justice be served right? you may ask.

I can understand that letting go of the offense may be really difficult for you. But the truth is that the resentment you now nurse in your heart is like feeding a cancerous growth in your body. It can spread to every part of your body, eating up your vital organs. In most cases they call it terminal illness or spiritual attack. But it’s just a way people cooperate with the devil to destroy their bodies through emotional hurts and resentments they carry about, bottled in them. this is a strategy of the devil I’ll like to call "Deploying you to destroy you"

It may look and feel right to go the way of vengeance but the bible has this to say about dealing with issues the way that seems right to us but contrary to God.

There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death

                                                        - Proverbs 14:12

Whenever the devil can’t get you directly, he brings offenses  so you can develop the wrong attitudes and emotions that are capable of aborting  your vision and destiny. Resentment blinds you to the opportunities of the moment and the blessings of tomorrow.

You can be healed of the pains and restored in a manner that will help you find it easier to continue to live a life that is free of bitterness. But you have to let go of the past. Let go of every hurt and forgive all those who have done you harm in the past. This will most likely be a very tough decision for you to make. I can understand that more often than not, the wisest things to do are the most difficult to adopt. But paying back evil for evil is not what the life of Christ teaches. His grace can help you heal while He builds your life up back again from the ashes into an edifice.

Just sincerely pray this prayer and see your life turn a new leaf in Jesus name.

I receive healing from every hurt of the past that keeps me  embittered and angry. I forgive and  I let go of every offense and the desire for vengeance. I accept that the Lord should judge my case. I receive grace to move on with Joy into the great future I have in Christ. Thank you Jesus for making my life beautiful again.
