HEARERS VS DOERS OF THE WORD

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.

- James 1 :22

 When Children hear a song for the first time they try to sing along even if they don’t know the lyrics or understand  the meaning of the song. Most times, they just sing the sounds of the words. That's all the effort they know to put into learning the song; just to say sounds that sound like the words in the song. They are comfortable and proud to sing it to anyone who cares to listen. As they do so, some simple words are pronounced correctly while most others are not. Thereby distorting the message and meaning of the song. An adult would do the same song differently. It will be sung well and the lyrics will be articulated in a manner that everyone who hears it will know what the song is all about. this is the level of mastery God expects from you. He expects you to put the words you hear to use.

For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

- Hebrew 5:13-14

Unfortunately Many Christians still behave like children. They’ve spent their whole life in the church but remained pretenders instead of doers of God’s word. They lack the motivation to be devoted enough to learn and understand the operations in God’s kingdom, which comes by doing (exercising) the Word. Because they don’t understand the pattern, they just play along  and get aligned once in a while but fall out of order every now and then.

They become a pseudo representation of Christ because it is difficult to get the meaning and message of Christianity from their lives and testimonies.

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars

                                                                           - 2 Corinthians 16:9

God is looking for people who will show the world by their personal testimonies that He is faithful and powerful enough to do all He has promised. This is what you can achieve by standing on God's word and exercising your faith until the result is seen.

God is depending on you because you can do it. That's the reason He sent The Holy Spirit to help and empower you to do His will.

Now I want you to know that to memorize and keep trying to obey the Ten Commandment is not the same as doing the Word. I need to make this clear because I believe you sincerely love God and desire to walk with him in obedience. God sees your heart and he wants to help you by His Spirit to walk in His ways. The word of God is the mind and the will of God for you. Be a doer of the Word by aligning your confessions and actions with the Word. Accept and confess what the Word says is yours in Christ by faith, and maintain this position no matter what comes to tell you otherwise. You will experience the miracle working power that follows those who do the word of God by exercising their faith to create the world they desire for themselves.

Make this confession:
I belong to Jesus and I am devoted to His service.  I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. And Sin has no power over me. I am a doer of the Word and not hearer only. I enjoy a consistent supply of growth grace as I am watered by the Word in Jesus name.
